Fuzz is a great little effect which you can usually hear being used by guitarists. They work by clipping the sound which makes the sound wave a bit more square. We know of a great little VST plugin that we think most producers should add to their arsenal of effects and best of all it is free.

Audio Damage's FuzzPlus 2 is simple to use with just four controls - Fuzz knob, Tone knob, Output knob and Bypass button. We find that by adding it to sounds as we are producing can give a something a little special to sounds and ultimately our mixes.

We've made this little clip of a sampled guitar with and we turn the Fuzz Plus plugin on about half way through to give you an idea of this effect and how you can use this within your own music production and not just on guitars but synth sounds, vocals and everywhere else where it might sound good.
